1998 Balmoral has an excellent deep purple/red colour.
An aroma showing intensely concentrated plum and blackberry fruit underpinned by extremely well-integrated American oak.
The palate shows the typical full length, expressive fruit, and velvety richness, that defines Balmoral. The concentration of berry fruits, cloves and spices wrapped tightly together and complemented by finely integrated savoury oak combine into a seamless lingering finish.
Wine Spectator 92
Firm in texture, aiming for elegance overpower, with delicious blueberry and plum fruit at the core, shaded with hints of sweet spices and toast. Fine tannins can use some cellar time. Best from 2003 through 2010. 2,500 cases imported. Harvey Steiman, June 15, 2001
