Tasting Note

Rosemount Estate is able to offer an impressive collection of single vineyard, premium regional and classic varietal wines because they have established vineyards in seven distinct viticultural regions across Australia.

The Show Reserve range presents the best varietal and regional partnerships in Australia; Hunter Valley for Semillon and Chardonnay, Coonawarra for Cabernet Sauvignon and McLaren Vale for Shiraz. Special parcels are set aside each vintage, then aged for a minimum of ten months in oak barrels to ensure complexity and seamless integration.

Colour

Strong Ruby Red

Nose

Intense fruity notes of cassis and red cherry, cedarwood, cinnamon, caramel.

Palate

A velvet-soft Australian red Rosemount Estate Traditional with palate-filling, beautifully pronounced cassis and cherry flavours, persistent finish with elegant tannins.

This wine is about balance and texture with a seamless integration of dark fruit and tannins. The Traditional has always been one of Rosemount’s more notable wines, showing exceptional character and refinement. This shows Cabernet to the fore with its sidekicks of Merlot and Petit Verdot playing important supporting roles. Layered with concentrated dark currant and blackberry fruit this is nuanced with well-judged oak that adds a savory element and a hint of tobacco spice and a chocolate edge to the finish. Almost velvety in its sleeker texture, there is a nice plumpness to the dark fruit on its medium-fuller frame. The tannins are quite polished and well-integrated which makes this drink beautifully now. But don’t be fooled as this has all the components for some serious mid term aging. For those with patience this will only get better over the years. This has class written all over it.

The Domaine

The McLaren Vale is one of Australia's oldest winemaking regions, where the backdrop of undulating vineyard rolls towards the sea and stunning beaches. The maritime region produces fine wines from the traditional Grape varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vibrant, juicy palate is a happy partnership of the blueberry, blackcurrant and tobacco leaf of Cabernet Sauvignon, the juicy plum of Merlot, and finally the inky floral notes of Petit Verdot. Intense, supple, mouth-watering tannins, producing a long elegant finish.
