Our Show Reserve wines pay tribute to the great wine regions of Australia and their ability to produce defining examples of celebrated varietals. This range allows us to express the particular regional characteristics of each wine made in the true Rosemount. Crafted from premium parcels of grapes these wines receive additional maturation in the winery cellars, enabling them to develop the distinctive bouquet and rich varietal flavors for which their region is renowned.

Tasting Note

Colour

Medium deep red.

Nose

The nose has a sweet juicy fruit lift with enticing black olive and blackcurrant aromas.

Palate

The palate is soft and elegant, combining sweet fruit with well-integrated vanilla and mocha oak, providing for a great balance of flavors. This is a medium-bodied wine with a long finish, supported by lovely, savory tannins.

Vintage

The growing season up to the 2005 vintage was one of the best experienced in Mudgee for some time. There were some concerns over drought after a dry winter, however good rain in late October and early November allayed these. January was hot and the fruit ripened well.

Producer

Rosemount Estate has established itself, in a little over thirty years, as one of Australia's leading wineries, producing a selection of fine wines that reflect the riches of the Australian climate and the winemaking team’s constant dedication to wine quality, innovation and style.

Ratings

Huon Hooke - Ranked 20 of 34 Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra

Good colour: medium dark red purple. Stemmy, green-bean aromas among the berry fruit characters. Palate also has some green-pea flavours and a hint of compost. Soft, ample tannins but not very complex. Savoury tannins, a little drying but quite a good drink. Should take some age well.

89 pts Wine Spectator 2/29/08
Generous and distinctive for its smoky blackberry and black pepper flavors, ranging over mildly grippy tannins that support the flavors and carry through a long and expressive finish.
