2010 Pierre Moncuit Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Millésime

An ethereal and delicate champagne with citrus aromas subtly mixed with mineral notes. Its freshness makes it an ideal companion as an aperitif.

Tasting Notes

Pierre Moncuit's Blanc de Blancs cuvée is an extremely fresh, airy champagne produced in one of the region's most prestigious terroirs.

On the nose, it offers an initially fruity bouquet, with citrus notes, then moving towards more mineral, chalky aromas.

There is a lively, direct attack in the mouth. The same tart citrus aromas are found mid-palate, harmoniously accompanied by a remarkable mineral character and silky texture. It finishes with great length and slightly iodine notes.

The Moncuit family has been making superb champagne in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, for more than 100 years. Pierre Moncuit had recognised the intrinsic quality of his terroir and, together with his wife Odile, strove to make the best possible champagnes from his grapes. Nicole Moncuit and her brother Yves, along with her daughter Valérie, are now in charge of the Domaine and make sublimely complex, delicate wines from 20 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards.

Nicole Moncuit is one of the rare women winemakers in the region. Assisted by her daughter Valérie on the production side and her brother on the commercial side, she crafts her champagnes in a very individual way. This champagne house in the middle of the Côte des Blancs is known for the absence of reserve wine and use of 100% Chardonnay. The 20 hectare, family-owned vineyard is cultivated meticulously to produce distinguished and complex wines with delicate bubbles. Far from the spotlight, this limited production champagne is even more appealing because of its attractive price.
