Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep black-cherry colour with tawny hues.

Nose

Subtle and complex nose with aromas of vanilla from the oak ageing.

Palate

On the palate, rich and well-structured with hints of ripe red fruit and coconut. Long and pleasant finish.

Production Method

After a careful selection of the best grapes and gentle fermentation under temperatures not exceeding 28°C ,the wine is kept in vats for 12 months to allow it to stabilize. It is then transferred to oak casks for ageing for approximately 24 months depending on the vintage before being transferred to bottle where it continues to develop for a further 3 years prior to release.

History

Bodegas Rioja Santiago hosts and serves wine to millions of pilgrims as they pass through Rioja, on their final stage to Santiago de Compostela.

Founded in 1870 in Haro, on the banks of the River Tiron, Bodega Rioja Santiago is the fourth oldest winery in La Rioja. One of only five wineries permitted to use the word ‘Rioja’ on the label.

Nowadays Rioja Santiago is a modern winery, but the philosophy that surrounded the wines for more than 100 years has not changed: producing the highest quality Rioja wines.
