2013 Marqués de Griñon Graciano

Sourced from the limestone-rich soils of the esteemed Dominio de Valdepusa vineyards, this Graciano is hand-harvested and embodies the distinctive character of the estate’s terroir. Refined in lightly toasted French oak for 20 months, this red has excellent aging potential.

Tasting Notes

Intense cherry red, well covered by layer, typical of a long-lived wine.

Complex aromas, ripe fruit, spicy, balsamic and floral (violet).

Powerful, well-balanced and tasty, silky, soft acidity and abundance of ripe tannins that give a step fleshy and velvety mouth.

Production Methods

Vineyards located 500 meters above sea level and worked prioritizing the ecological balance of the earth. Consisting of a limestone subsoil originated in the Cretaceous period to 2 or more meters deep. It rests on a thin layer of clay only about 15 cm. This structure, porosity and drainage, is considered internationally as ideal for producing great wines.

Harvested by hand, with an exhaustive selection of the best bunches both in the field and in the cellar. We work with minimal intervention and sensitive to the unique characteristics of this vineyard. The aging is carried out for 20 months in new and semi-new French oak barrels.

“Ripe dark berries and some herbal and tarry nuances here, too. The palate has a full and fleshy feel with a wealth of ripe dark plums and berries. There’s a bold, smooth-tannin quality here, too.”
