This wine is produced from a blend of Syrah and Garnacha from the El Rincón estate vineyard in the Aldea del Freso region of the DO Vinos de Madrid - 55km to the south-west of the capital.
The family strives to capture the unique terroir in the bottle of each wine they make, and El Rincón is no exception. This particular “terroir” - decomposed granite versus clay over a limestone subsoil in Dominio de Valdepusa and a slightly cooler microclimate - results in rather more Atlantic flavors. Its wines show an elegant mid-palate with distinct reminiscences of herbs and flowers, plus a remarkably lasting finish for such a delicate wine.
Expressive notes of ripe plums, violets, spice and a hint of caramel.
On the palate, it shows outstanding balance and complexity with plenty of ripe fruit, backed up with firm but soft tannins.
The grapes for this wine are all sourced from the estate’s El Rincón vineyard where the decomposed granite and clay soils help to add a distinctive touch of minerality and a certain finesse to the wine. Combined with hot summer days and cooler nights, these conditions help to create very well-balanced wines that display both freshness and intense flavours and aromas.
Marques de Grinon insists on manually harvesting all of the grapes to ensure optimal quality and following vinification they are matured in new and used French oak barrels for 10 months to add delicate toasty notes and hints of baking spice.
This wine is neither filtered nor clarified before bottling, we therefore recommend that you decant this wine before serving.
