Tasting Notes 


Deep, dark ruby hues


A classic nose of ripe berry fruit, well balanced with the use of new oak. 


The palate is well structured showing great concentration and length. The ultimate wine match for lamb!

Production Method

Matured in our cellars, from old vine Tempranillo grapes which are grown in the Rioja Alta region. Here the vines grow at 650m above sea level, on nutrient-rich sandstone soil, and enjoy an average temperature of 20°C, and below-average rainfall.

This is a new modern Crianza styled wine, made using the latest winemaking technology. Aged for 18 months in new French and American oak barrels and a further 6 months in bottle to provide a wine style that has forward fruit underpinned by the classic qualities of traditional Rioja.

"Harvested as one of the earliest vintages in the history of the D.O. The hot summer led to a quicker than usual maturation of fruit, which in turn was corrected by mid-September rains which were crucial for this harvest."

Our Patron and ancestor,  Don Jose Abascal (1743-1821) was named Marqués de la Concordia in 1812 by King Fernando VII of Spain, to recognize his personal merits as 25th  Viceroy of Peru [1806-1816]. Don José was an intellectual in the military who brought harmony between Latin America and Iberia.  His title name Concordia, comes from the immortal Roman goddess of harmony and concord.
And in that vein, our wines represent the Harmony between the old and new world, Spanish heritage with modern winemaking technology.
