SVMMA is a Latin word used to indicate that the epitome of knowledge has been reached. Indeed, as a result of two generations of care and research, the Falcó family has crafted this high caliber wine. Made from 70% Syrah, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Petit Verdot, the grapes are separately fermented and aged in French oak (10-14 months) before final assemblage.
Deep ruby-red in color with purple reflections, this wine shows rich notes of dark berries, clove, smoke and pepper. On the palate, layers of mineral and fruit notes are interwoven, accompanied by soft tannins, silky texture and excellent concentration.
Manual harvest, followed by destemming and discharge by gravity in the fermentation tanks. Prolonged maceration for up to 4 or 5 weeks and ageing in new and semi-new French Allier Oak barrels, for 12 months, in a heated ageing cellar. The wine is not subject to clarification or filtering.
The visionary Carlos Falcó, who heads up the Marqués de Griñon Estate, is a legendary figure in the Spanish winemaking world thanks to his forward-thinking innovations and decades of experience of making wine in the Castilla-La Mancha region. He was amongst the first to experiment with drip irrigation, harvesting at night and planting varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in Spanish soil.
