Les Argelieres is a range of modern, fruity varietal wines from the Languedoc. Producer Marilyn Lasserre is a genuine pioneer. Since her return to France in 2008, she has significantly contributed to the renewed success of Languedoc’s wines. Bringing her feminine touch to traditionally strong, rustic and full-bodied wines, Marilyn succeeded in improving quality and taste with a rigorous selection in the vineyards and perfect control of the winemaking process. Les Argelières is a tribute to the “Terroir” from which these wines are produced, a terroir mostly made of pebble and limestone perfectly exposed to the sun. It enhances the fruit aromas giving the reds a vibrant fruit character.

Tasting Notes

Dark purple-red in the glass, there are blackcurrant and green pepper aromas, typical of the Cabernet Franc grape variety. Smooth, fruity and medium-bodied on the palate with a spicy finish.

Alan's Tasting Note - "Lashings of black currant fruit are prevented from being jammy by a luscious fresh acidity. There’s a definite feminine touch around this wine - perfect balance, perfect grace and very sure of itself! Delicious and better value than wines twice the price!"

Awards

  • Jancis Robinson, 2016, 15/20 points: "Immediate dark-berried sweet aromas, verging on syrupy. Very sweet fruit - black cherries and blackberries macerated in vanilla-spiked juice - held back from a shapeless gloop of jamminess by just-in-time-and-just-enough acidity."
  • Voted in Wine Merchant Top 100 Wines, 2016.
