Luigi Bosca Gala 1 is an elegant blend in which the Malbec contributes notes of red fruit like cherries, morello cherries and plums, that are combined with those of other varietals that add spiced and violet hints. A round, smooth and lasting mouthfeel reminiscent of red fruit and vanilla. Ageing in new oak barrels lend great volume and elegance to this wine. 92 Points Wine Enthusiast.
The three varieties are vinified separately exactly the same way. The grapes are hand-picked, clusters are then sorted and destemmed for further grain selection. The must is macerated in cold for 3 to 5 days at a temperature from 10°C to 15°C. Then the must is fermented with selected yeast in small stainless steel tanks, with delestages and pressings. Once fermentation is finished, only the Malbec is aged in oak barrels where malolactic fermentation occurs and is then matured for 14 months. Once the ageing is finished and the final blend is done the wine is clarified, filtered and bottled. It is stored at the winery for at least 6 months before market release.

This wine was the first blend of the winery based on the flagship Argentinean variety, trying to show the potential of Malbec. This blend of Tannat, that provides structure, and Petit Verdot, which adds complexity, define an intense, modern and elegant wine. The 2016 harvest had a cool to cold weather throughout the plant’s growth and grapes’ maturity cycle, thus resulting in great intensity and aromatic precision. Fresh red fruit, floral and spicy notes stand out, while the fresh acidity and soft tannins in the mouth, also typical of the time of the year, add brightness, texture and a long finish.
