This Veronese grape is seldom cultivated varietal but is very well known as part of such well-sounding names as Valpolicella Ripasso and Amarone. The Corvina Garda of Cantina di Custoza, with its small percentage of dried grapes and partial ageing in barrique, proves that this grape is also very good on its own. The wine is characterized by an intense ruby red with violet nuances. It is conspicuously balanced, fine and with pleasant notes of almond.
Intense bouquet of ripe wild berries and fine almond tones.
Good cherry and plum fruits, a concentrated palate with juicy acidity and ripe tannins. Full-bodied with pleasantly integrated woody notes and soft tannins
About 40 percent of the grapes matured in barriques for a few months, others in stainless steel.
18 months in barrels
Cantina di Custoza was founded in 1968 and today uses grapes from over 1000 hectares of south-facing vineyards, located on the hills and foothills south and southwest of Lake Garda.
The terrains are glacial moraines composed primarily of limestone, gravel and sand. The climate is mild and temperate. The fresh and fruity 'Classici' range offers great 'food' wines, whilst the 'Val dei Molini' range takes its name from one of the most charming valleys in the Veneto and is part of the Cantina's ongoing 'quality project'. The range is completed with the premium 'Custodia' selection: the name comes from Custoza's ancient name as custodian of the territory.
