The winery is keen to preserve tradition while seeking to combine this with innovation. Production is overseen by the well respected and highly respected winemaker David Baverstock. His philosophy is to create authentic and exciting wines, taking full advantage of Portuguese heritage.
A vibrant and elegant fruity wine with aromas of wild berries and light floral notes, a youthful palate with no oak shows good texture and fine tannins with a refreshing pleasing finish.
Vineyard and Viticulture
The vines average 15 years old and they are planted on granite and schist rock with clay and loam soils, drip feed irrigation is used. Grapes are carefully selected from multiple sites during the months of August and October to guarantee consistent quality.
Grapes are de-stemmed and lightly crushed. Fermentation is initiated using cultured yeasts in stainless steel tanks and lasts for five days at 28°C. After fermentation and membrane pressing the wine is fined and filtered prior to bottling.
