Alan's Personal Tasting Notes
"Wow! - last time I tasted this wine - probably 6 or 7 vintages back my impression was of a cheap, thin, white base wine, heaped with some Tate& Lyle sweetness - not at all attractive!
However, on tasting this 2017 it’s a completely different (and much improved) animal - so I would suggest we’ve had a progressive change of winemaking style at McManis?
Fresh, crisp and very well balanced with peach, apple and citric fruits punctuated with delightful, refreshing acidity. It’s almost as if the added sweetness of the previous style killed all the attractive fresh attributes of the base wine. It’s now a very well balanced wine with good length and complexity."
