India's first-ever Sauvignon Blanc! This is the wine that made the world sit up and take notice of Indian wine.

Tasting Notes

Herbaceous, crisp and dry, with aromas of bell peppers, intermingled with tropical fruits like passion fruit and gooseberry (amla) with a racy, zingy finish.

Aromas of cut grass, green peppers and spice. Gooseberry and racy acidity on the palate. Dry and crisp with a moderately long finish.

Sula produces modern wines of international standard. Young Indian entrepreneur, Rajeev Samant, believes that India has great potential to produce world-class wines so he decided to establish vineyards and a winery in a prime location in Nashik. Sula is currently India’s leading premium wine producer.

Fruit was sourced from the areas around Dindori, which has hills and gentle slopes. They were hand-harvested and the yields were controlled.

Nashik is located approx 2000 feet above sea level, to the north of Mumbai, in the Western Ghats mountains. The climate is mild with winters reaching 8-10C and summers 35C, rainfall is high. Similar in climate to the Loire and South Africa.

Soil Type

Combination of red soil with gravel and clay (high in iron with good drainage)

Kerry Damskey (award winning winemaker from Sonoma County, California)

Grapes were whole bunch pressed and the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks for 25 – 30 days then left to settle for approx 2 months
