Our very special premium Cyder is made using the Original Method, first set out by the English physician Christopher Merrett, whose legacy & technique for creating sparkling wines has been adopted worldwide. The result is a much more refined, elegant cyder with subtle apple flavours and delicate bubbles. Made using the finest apples from the Kingscote orchard, this dry and crisp offering provides finesse and luxury – this is no ordinary cyder.
Kingscote Estate is set in the quiet rolling hills of the West Sussex countryside, next to the historic Bluebell Railway. It was established in the 1980s by Christen Monge, whose aim was to create premium English wines. Monge was a dedicated windsurfer at the time, often found in the waves off the South Coast practising new tricks.
In 2015 the winery was acquired by the MDCV group, who sympathetically continue Monge's work alongside a small group of other English sites. Kingscote is the centre of their growing activities in south England. As the Kingscote brand evolves under MDCV, they utilise varietals that flourish in the cool English conditions (Bacchus, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Regent) to produce refreshing, light-hearted and citrussy English sparkling wines using the Charmat method, at a very accessible price point.
