Alcohol free spirits are made through the distillation of botanicals, up to 35! These are then mixed to create the flavour, many of which now go past just imitating a gin, vodka or vermouth taste but instead create a whole new flavour!
Across Europe drinks below 0.5% ABV are classed as alcohol-free. In the UK drinks that are between 0.05% and 0.5% ABV are classed as non-alcoholic.

Giesen 0% Merlot begins with premium, full-strength New Zealand red wine crafted to retain varietal depth and structure. Delicate aromas of crushed blackberry and wild herbs lead into a palate of red berries and ripe plum, balanced by subtle toasted oak. Fine, powdery tannins provide gentle structure, finishing smooth and refreshing. A lighter style red that still feels complete in the glass.

Made from our premium, full-strength New Zealand wine, Giesen 0% keeps all the best qualities of Giesen Estate Merlot. It’s aromatically expressive, with the varietal characteristics you know and love… only with the alcohol gently removed.
We start by creating premium, full-strength New Zealand red wine. Then, we use innovative spinning cone technology to gently distill the wine into three layers: aroma, alcohol, and the body of the wine. We collect the delicate aroma and recombine it with the body of the wine, adding just a touch of premium grape juice to produce our final blend: a refreshing, delicious 0% red wine with low calories.

Fruit is grown and selected from New Zealand’s premium wine regions - Marlborough and Waipara. Marlborough fruit gives us classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc characters and aroma, while the Waipara fruit provides balance to the traditional Marlborough acidity to offer a soft, structured wine
