Casa Vinicola Botter was founded in 1928 by Carlo Botter, a negociant selling to restaurants at the time and, is still a family run winery now in its third generation. During the 1950’s brothers Arnaldo and Enzo transformed the company, increasing its size and shifting to sales of their own bottles. Botter cooperates with the most qualified producers in Veneto, Apulia, Molise, Abruzzo and Sicily. 2023 Paolo Leo Passo del Cardinale Primitivo di Manduria
Regular price £15.99 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 117): Computation results in '-Infinity'%Primitivo grapes ripen very early, which is how they got their name. Interestingly, just 20 days after the harvest, Primitivo vines produce new grapes, traditionally called "second harvest." These younger bunches are used by the winemaker to enhance the freshness and acidity of these bold wines, creating a wonderful balance with the rich berry fruit and spice character.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red with refined garnet reflections. A rich bouquet of blackcurrant, ripe cherries, and forest fruits, interwoven with hints of licorice, coffee, and sweet spice. The palate is silky and enveloping, featuring dried fruit, damson, and red plum, harmonized by fresh acidity and polished tannins. Long and enduring finish highlighted by notes of berry jam and warm spice.

Vinification
The grapes are destemmed and fermented at a controlled temperature of 25 °C for 8-10days. A maceration on the skins follows, during 15-18 days, to improve the delicate extraction of tannin sand flavors. Matured for 3 months in American oak barriques and 6 months in steel.
Producer
Now in its fifth generation, Paolo Leo is based in the Salento wine village of San Donaci. The story of this beautiful estate began at the turn of the twentieth century, when Antonio Leo started to vinify the grapes grown in the vineyards of “Masseria Monticello”.The winery has enjoyed constant investment over the years and is today a thoroughly modern winery, with a capacity of 120,000 hl of wine and a barrel room housing 1000 French and American oak barriques. The company is certified BRCGS/IFS, BRCGS Ethical ICEA Organic, EQUALITAS .

2023 Paolo Leo Millefiori Appassimento
Regular price £13.99 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 117): Computation results in '-Infinity'%A deliciously rich expressive red!
Tasting Notes
The wine has a lovely and intense ruby-red colour with a bouquet reminiscent of cherries, dried fruit, chocolate and prunes. On the palate it is full-bodied, soft and round, with a pleasant spiciness and an amazingly long and lingering finish.

Producer
The cellars occupy a total area of about 24,000 square meters. The first is located in the heart of the Salice Salentino DOC (San donaci) the second, inaugurated in August 2020, is located at the gates of the Primitivo di Manduria DOC (Monteparano).
They are equipped with a state-of-the-art winemaking plant, a large barrel cellar and a modern cutting-edge bottling line capable of reaching 7000 bottles per hour. The winery is flanked by the farm Masseria Carritelli that is surrounded by vineyards.
Viticulture
The grapes are selected from low-yielding vineyards in province of Verona. The grapes are inter-planted and trained using the typical pergola Veronese and Guyot methods. Plant density is 4.200 vines per hectare with an average yield of no more than 1,4 kg of grapes per plant. The grapes are carefully picked by hand in early October.
Vinification
Approximately 60% of the picked grapes are placed in small wooden crates of 5 kg each. The crates are then placed in the “fruttaio,” a well aerated loft, and are left there to dry at a controlled temperature and humidity until December. During this “appassimento” the grapes will lose up to 50% of their original weight in water, thus concentrating their color, substance and aromas. The grapes which are not dried are immediately vinified. After de-stemming, the grapes are not crushed, allowing them to remain intact, reducing damage to the skins and optimizing color extraction. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 25-26°C for 8-10 days. Frequent remontage and delestage are carried out in the early stages of fermentation in order to achieve softextraction of aromas and gentle tannins. After racking, malolactic bacteria are added to induce a second fermentation. In late December the dried grapes are vinified. After de-stemming, the grapes are crushed and placed in stainless steel tanks, where selected yeasts are added. A very slow fermentation is initiated which will last approximately 30 days at a controlled temperature of 24°C. Here too frequent remontage and delestage are carried out in the early stages of fermentation in order to achieve soft extraction of aromas and gentle tannins. After racking, malolactic bacteria are added to induce a second fermentation.

Tasting Notes
Fresh and floral, with a crisp acidity with touches of honey and a little complex nuttiness. This wine offers lovely minerality and is beautifully balanced.

Producer
Miopasso offers an outstanding selection of Italian wines made with modern production technologies and local grape varieties. By combining resourceful grape sourcing with precise winemaking, this range has built a reputation as an excellent value-for-money option amongst its core of wine aficionados. Enjoy some of the finest Italian wines that money can buy with Miopasso.
Viticulture
Belice Agrigento – mid-way across Sicily on the southern coast.
The grapes are picked by hand in mid September and are carefully selected.
Vinification
The grapes are destemmed, soft pressed using a pneumatic press, then left in contact with the skins for about 12 hours at 10°C for optimum extraction of the aromas. Fermentation takes place at about 14-16°C. We do not do malolactic fermentation in order to retain all the natural acidity of the wine. We then leave the wine on its fine lees at a constant temperature of 16°C until the end of January. Prior to bottling at the end of February/beginning of March, we do a very gentle filtration.

2024 Caparrone Pecorino, Colline Pescaresi
Regular price £12.99 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 117): Computation results in '-Infinity'%Abruzzo’s Adriatic coast is famous for its incredible seafood, perfectly complemented by the local Pecorino wine.
Tasting Notes
Appealing aromas of stone fruit with citrus and grapefruit notes. The palate is crisp and zesty with layers of fresh peachy, tropical fruit characters. Lively and approachable, with texture and minerality giving depth, and backed by vibrant acidity.

Production
The Pecorino grapes are sourced from the district of Caparrone, in the hills west of Pescara. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for 2 months on lees.
Producers
Rocco Pasetti's superbly sited, 50 hectare, estate lies in the heart of the Collecorvino district in the hills northwest of Pescara, recognised as one of the best vineyard zones in Abruzzo.
Surrounding the winery, the south-facing slopes of clay-chalk soils, at around 250m altitude, are ideal for the cultivation of Montepulciano, with Pecorino grown on the lower slopes. The cellar was completed in 2004 - carved into the hillside. Rocco's son, Franco Pasetti, is also a winemaker and now works alongside him at the estate.
The Contesa wines are impeccably-made expressions of Abruzzo's local grapes - modern and easy to drink, yet wines of real substance.
Sustainability
Contesa is certified by VIVA, a Sustainability programme promoted by the Italian Ministry of Environment. This uses four key indicators - Air, Water, Vineyard and Territory - to assess environmental and social impact based on life cycle assessment standards and ISO-compliant methodologies (eg. ISO 14067 for carbon footprint). This has been in place at Contesa since 2025 (prior to that Contesa was certified Sustainable according to SQNPI). The winery is also in conversion to Organic - with all wines certified Organic from the 2025 vintage.

2023 Montresor Gran Guardia, Soave Classico
Regular price £11.99 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 117): Computation results in '-Infinity'%
An excellent and affordable representation of an underrated Italian classic, originating from the picturesque vineyards nestled in the heart of the Soave region.
Tasting Notes
An excellent example of good quality Soave Classico, fresh and lightly fruity with delicate floral aromas of honeysuckle, elderflower and a hint of spice. Crisp and refreshing on the palate with good depth of honeyed fruit, and a clean, lightly nutty finish.

Production
Montresor Soave Classico is made from a blend of Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grapes cultivated in selected vineyards around the Soave hillsides. The vines are trained in the traditional trellis system, and grapes are picked by hand in September. The grapes are gently pressed in Bucher presses and fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 16 degrees after a short maceration. Malolactic fermentation is actively prevented. The wine is held on lees for a few months and given a light filtration before bottling.
Producer
One of Verona’s historic houses, founded by Giacomo Montresor in 1892, with a reputation built on high quality, affordable Valpolicella and Amarone. In recent years, the range has grown steadily with vineyards being developed in Friuli and northern Veneto, around Conegliano. Their portfolio also includes impressive Prosecco wines.
The winery was family-owned until 2018 when Montresor was acquired by Cevico, a co-operative group based in Emilia Romagna, with two highly regarded Veneto co-ops as co-investors. Since then, a major investment programme has transformed the company – with modern production facilities and a new winemaking team rejuvenating quality across the board, while access to high quality grapes from the Veneto co-owners has enabled some excellent new wines to be developed.
Sustainability
In 2021 Montresor launched its new organic project, a range of 'Montresor Bio' wines. Some of its wines are already bottled in a lighter weight glass bottle (less than 420g) to reduce carbon dioxide emissions during transport, with the added benefit of reducing the amount of glass to be manufactured.
Solar panels are being installed at the winery to provide some of the electricity required in the production process; plus a water purification system to recover and recycle the water used at the winery.

Tasting Notes
Bright straw-yellow colour. Floral scents with notes of acacia and orange blossoms accompanied by tropical fruit, peaches and vanilla. An elegant, full and savory palate, with a well-balanced acidity and a persistent finish.

Producer
The 40 hectare Tenuta Aquilaia estate in Maremma (southern Tuscany), close to Scansano, was acquired by Azienda Uggiano in 2019. Only 15ha are currently dedicated to vineyards - of average age 15 years - although they have recently added a further 1.5 hectares to bring this total nearer to 17ha. Here they produce five red grape varieties: Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Alicante, Merlot and Petit Verdot; plus white varieties Vermentino and Chardonnay.
The area was an old Etruscan settlement and site of ancient winemaking, and several mementos of the Etruscan era are still visible.

2025 Santa Tresa Rina Russa Frappato Terre Siciliane IGP
Regular price £13.99 Save Liquid error (snippets/product-template line 117): Computation results in '-Infinity'%If Frappato is Vittoria’s signature grape, then Rina Russa di Santa Tresa perfectly captures its essence. “Rina Russa” means “red sand” in Sicilian dialect. Rina Russa features the black figures found on ancient Greek vases, a tribute to the meeting of peoples and cultures.
Tasting Notes
Rina Russa genuinely has its own unique style, as the Frappato grapes come from ancient clones developed on our own estate. It has a very beautiful light cherry colour, with a fresh and vibrant bouquet, reminiscent of wild strawberries and a beautifully balanced palate, with silky smooth fruit, a real freshness running through it and a surprisingly long finish.

Harvest
The grapes are carefully picked by hand towards the end of September and are carefully put into small containers of 15kg.
Vinification
The grapes are chilled overnight in a refrigerated room to lower the temperature to 6-8°C, in order to preserve the particular qualities of the Frappato. After a very gentle destemming and crushing the grapes are fermented at a temperature of about 18-22°C for 10-12 days. The wine is separated from the skins and malolactic fermentation is allowed to take place naturally.
Ageing
After the malolactic fermentation is completed, the wine is kept on its fine lees for about 4-6 months in stainless steel tanks, with regular stirring, before bottling.
