Tasting Notes
It begins with a rich bouquet of dried cherries, figs, and plums, highlighted by notes of chocolate, vanilla, and a hint of spice. Producer
Botter was founded in 1928 by Carlo Botter and his wife Maria, in a village near Venice. Originally selling local wines direct from barrel and demijohns, the company has grown to become one of the leading exporters in the north of Italy. Cà Vittoria represents their foray into southern Italy, using indigenous varieties and ‘appassimento’ drying techniques to create full bodied, silky red wines.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Aromas of red berry and cherry, with a touch of eucalyptus and liquorice.
Palate
The palate has bright bramble fruit, soft tannins, minerality and some spice on the finish.
Production
The Primitivo vines grow in red, iron-rich soils. The grapes are harvested at the end of August / start of September. Fermentation is in stainless steel.
Producer
The Felline winery is in Manduria, Puglia, around 10km from the coast above the Gulf of Taranto. It was founded by Gregory Perrucci in 1992, the 3rd generation of a wine family, born and raised in Manduria. He has dedicated his life to one of the classic varieties of the region - the Primitivo grape - perfectly suited to the sunny, dry climate.
The winery has 120 hectares of vineyard across carefully selected plots and with soils ranging from sand, loam, tuff and clay on a base of limestone rock. Grapes sourced from these different soil types are vinified separately to harness their individual characteristics. His aim is to produce ‘real’ wines inspired by the traditions of the region.

2021 Rivera Primitivo

Rivera aims to interpret this variety with a fresh flowing style, using modern winemaking techniques to enhance the intense aromas of jammy black fruit in this variety.
Tasting Notes
Deep violet-red color; fresh and fruity bouquet with notes of blackberry; rich and fruity palate, but smooth.
Background
The vineyards, located on limestone-based high plateaus and exposed to northerly winds coming in from the Adriatic Sea, combined with the characteristics of native vines with slow, late ripening, make the Castel del Monte area an example of how Apulian wine production can be represented by wines of surprising freshness, elegance and longevity. The soul of Rivera are the vineyards: 70 hectares of property, flanked by 75 Ha of specialized olive groves, trained by spurred cordon and guyot with high density of vines per hectare and low unit production, and cultivated according to sustainable farming protocols in a wine growing project that focuses everything on quality and the enhancement of the different terroirs of the estate.
Vinification
The harvest takes place in the last week of August. Maceration lasts 8-9 days in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 28°C. AGING: 9 months in vitrified cement vats and then a couple of months in the bottle.

Tasting Notes
A bright ruby red colour with garnet nuances, this is an intense and complex Primitivo wine. Aromas of ripe raspberry and blackberry as well as plum jam combined with clean, spicy, vanilla and balsamic notes. Dry, warm, soft, tannic and persistent in the mouth, all rounded out by the toasted oak notes.
Producer
In the heel of Italy, Manduria is considered the birth place of the native Primitivo grape, and was officially recognised as such in the 1970s when a DOC was created for the region. However Produttori di Manduria had been making wines for 40 years by then, unashamedly proud of their deep affection for Primitivo.
As well as making high quality examples of Puglia's most famous vinous export, this leading producer is well versed in producing fascinating whites from Fiano and Verdeca. But it is with the poetically titled Elegia that the extraordinary levels of quality come to light. Made from old bush vines up to 50 years old it creates a wine of intense dark berry fruit with wonderful balsamic end notes and excellent balance.
Production
This Riserva level Primitivo is produced from grapes harvested from 35 to 50 year old alberello (bush vine) and espallier trained vines. Harvested in mid September, the average yield per hectare is 60 quintals.
A temperature controlled fermentation is made at 25° C with maceration for 2 weeks before 12 months of ageing in French Allier oak barriques, a proportion of which are new oak.
