2021 Frumushika-Nova Muscat Ottonel
Regular price £18.49 Sale price £15.72 Save 15%This wine the perfect choice for those looking for something delicate and fresh.
Tasting Notes
Dry white natural wine from Muscat Ottonel grapes. The color is light golden. Fruity aroma of wine with pronounced hints of citrus, peach and pineapple. Wine with an excellent balance of acidity, rounded, harmonious.

History
The Frumushika-Nova family winery was established in the summer of 2006 when Oleksandr Palariev started building the Center of Green Tourism, Ethnography and Family Vacation on the ancestor's land. Before 1946, the Palariev family lived and made wine on the territory of Frumushika-Nova village. However, the Soviets settled out all citizens of Frumushika and another five villages to build the military facilities.
Nowadays, a family winery has 10 hectares of vineyards, whereas a modern winery produces about 35K bottles of wine using organic techniques.
Frumushika-Nova is more than wine. Today, this is a family recreation centre with the "Bessarabian village of Frumushyka-Nova" where visitors can get acquainted with the national courtyards of the 19th-20th centuries, with the unique culture of the Ukrainian, Moldavian, and Bulgarian, Gagauz, German, Jewish peoples. Also, this is one of the largest sheep farms in Europe for breeding Karakul sheep, producing soft pickled cheese prepared according to a traditional recipe.

Brut Rose Chateau Chizay
Regular price £18.99 Sale price £16.14 Save 15%This sparkling wine boasts a delicate powdery colour with lively and persistent bubbles.
Tasting Notes
The aroma is subtle, complementing the colour, with hints of seasonal flowers such as peonies and roses.
The taste is fresh and soft, not overly strict as a brut. In the aftertaste, the essence of red flowers blossoms once again.

History
The Chateau Chizay is a true country estate surrounded by vineyards. It was this French concept and its aesthetics that inspired us when creating Chateau Chizay, located near the ancient town of Berehove.
Transcarpathia is a historical wine region. The slopes of the volcanic Carpathian Mountains, plenty of sunlight, and sufficient water have fostered winemaking in these lands since ancient times. Zakarpattia (Transcarpathian) wines were supplied to the courts of medieval kings and nobles, and even to the presidents of modern states.
The culture of Transcarpathian winemaking is unique because it has combined Hungarian, Italian, and Austrian traditions throughout historical vicissitudes. It was this cultural fusion that yielded such an interesting and colorful product – Transcarpathian wine.
And at Chateau Chizay, we make it exclusively from our own Zakarpattia grapes. 272 hectares of vineyards in perfect Zakarpattia terroirs. Masters who respect local traditions and have learned the modern winemaking techniques in Europe. Inspiration from history, energy for the future. All of this is added to the bouquet of our wines.
Chateau Chizay winery complex was founded in 1995 in the Chizay tract near the town of Berehove in Zakarpattia. We built a modern production facility from scratch, but with attention to the local winemaking history. Our principles are hard work and honesty, respect for nature, and love for what we do.
Making simply quality wines is interesting, but we want more. We’re not satisfied with just being the best. It has to be unique. We are creating a new history of winemaking in Zakarpattia and Europe, and today Chateau Chizay is not just a winery, but a winemaking town, a center of noble craftsmanship, and a handmade wonder of Zakarpattia.
Yes, we make wine. But – more than wine. We create emotions. And – a new glory of Zakarpattia Wine. This is the philosophy of Chateau Chizay. We know and love! Welcome to our world!

A crisp and fresh wine with elegant flavors of citrus, pear, white peach and balanced by a hint of minerality and texture

History
Winemaker’s profession isn’t new in Dakishvili Family. Wine knowledge was collected by several generations and kept for their sons and grandsons.
Gogi’s great great grandfather was a priest in the church. He was one of the first in the family who started winemaking because of Christian motives. As we know Orthodox use wine as a blood of Christ during Mesas. However, Gogi’s grandfather was killed because of Christian belief during Soviet times in 1929.
Gogi’s grandfather couldn’t continue family’s winemaking traditions, because he died very young at the age of 27 during Second World War.
However Gogi’s father became Oenologists and graduated winemaking school. Gogi also followed his ancestor’s steps and got proper education in Russia. Wine passion was so strong that he found his love in oenological faculty. Both Gogi and his wife are oenologists.
The new generation. Gogi has 3 children: Temuri – elder son is winemaker in Teliani valley, and consults several cellars as well. David , who is only 14 is so interested in wine, that in his age he already assists Gogi during winemaking process. Gogi’s daughter became doctor; however she is a huge fan of wine.
Also that Gogi’s second grandfather from mothers side was famous Qvevri master.
Traditions and century old experience makes Dakishvili wines excellent.

2023 Cramele Recas, Solara, Orange
Regular price £12.59 Sale price £11.08 Save 12%Discover a wine that embodies the essence of nature's touch, meticulously balanced and structured, yet exuding a purity and freshness that is simply captivating.
Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark straw in colour with orange hints.
Nose
The nose is a delicate mélange of quince, poire william and a hint of vanilla.
Palate
A complex and structured wine, with elegant but discreet fruit flavours of stone fruits, backed up with a powerful tannin structure and long finish.

Production
Refreshing like a white wine, with the complexity of red wine. This orange wine is made by leaving the grape skins and seeds in contact with the pressed juice, creating a deep orange-hued finish. The wine ferments naturally without the addition of yeasts, sulphur or any other additions. The different varieties are then blended and before a natural cold stabilisation, and bottled unfiltered and unfined.
Producer
Back in 1988, three families decided to invest in a winery in Romania, starting with 650 hectares of slightly unloved vineyards and a rusty, once state-owned winery.
Yet Englishman Philip Cox and his Romanian wife Elvira, have turned the Cramele Recas Estate into the most successful winery in Romania. Recas are now recognised globally for their impressive scale and breadth of fascinating wines, including natural and orange wine from organic grapes. Despite the scale the emphasis is on making good wines that over-deliver, and as a result they’ve struck on a magic formula that has seen sales and demand boom. Vineyards are a combination of evolved plantings from 1447 and more recent planting, whilst the winery has seen significant investment and boasts state of the art facilities where innovation thrives. Recas are in every way a modern, dynamic winery, whose open minded approach and quality sets them apart … a winery you really can’t ignore.

2021 Domaine des Tourelles Vieilles Vignes Merweh Obeidi
Regular price £16.49 Sale price £14.02 Save 15%A 50/50 blend of Merweh and Obeidi - indigenous Lebanese varieties from low yielding old vines. The Merweh vineyards are over 100 years old and have not been pruned for the last two decades, resulting in extremely low yields and concentrated flavours.
Tasting Notes
Colour
This blend of Merweh and Obeidi is golden in colour.
Nose
The nose has natural aromas of ripened grapes, apple skin and a mix of herbs and spices.
Palate
Mineral and savoury on the palate, the wine shows notes of dried figs and fresh almonds on the finish.
Production
A blend of two indigenous Lebanese varieties that likey trace their lineage back to the Phoenicians, this wine is made from very old vines grown in altitude. Merweh vineyards are spread over the mountians of Bsharreh to the west of the Bekaa Valley at 1,400m altitude, in amongst the famous cedars of Mount Lebanon. Merweh is a resistant variety which has adpated very well to the Mediterranean mountain climate and ecosystem. Due to the wild nature of the Merweh vines, the ripening was uneven abd required several passes and a skilled team to select only perectly ripe grapes. Obeidi vineyards are grown on the hills of Zahleh - the capital of Bekaa Valley - at 1,100m altitude. These 50 year old vines are trained using a pergola system to ensure they enjoy the best sun exposure to reach maximum ripeness an balance on this late-ripening grape. Obeidi is a reliable and very resitant grape, considered to be the backbone of Behaa Valley's vines throughout its winemaking history. Both varieties were cold fermented separately, using wild yeast widely present in the winery. Once fermentation was complete, the wines we blended and stored for a short period of time in stainless steel tanks to keep the original freshness of the blend.
Producer
Domaine des Tourelles was founded in 1868 by French adventurer François-Eugène Brun and is one of the most highly acclaimed and oldest wineries still operating in Lebanon. It was also the first commercial cellar in 'modern' Lebanon to produce wines, arak and other spirits. This place has history! The Brun family owned and ran the winery up until the last descendant died in 2003 but luckily two local families - the Issa and Issa el-Khoury families - joined forces to buy the property and continue the fine tradition of winemaking.
Today, this Bekaa Valley estate is run by the three Issa children - twins Faouzi and Johanne and their sister Christiane, alongside Emile Issa-el Khoury, son of one of the co-owners. This young and dynamic combination have introduced a handful of practices in the vineyards and cellar including the use of indigenous natural yeasts, no fining or filtering, and only very small amounts of sulphur. These techniques along with fruit from 40 hectares of ancient, organically cultivated and dry-farmed vineyards (among the oldest in the valley) and a winery perfect for hands-off winemaking, make Domaine des Tourelles one of the finest boutique wineries in the Middle East.
