Pintail Linkwood 2008 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Manzanilla Sherry Wine Cask | Cask # 9067 | Only 308 bottles global allocation

This is a rare single cask distilled and filled at Linkwood Distillery in 2008, spending the final year of its maturation in a barrique that previously held Manzanilla Sherry from Spain's southern coast. The resulting whisky carries notes of salted spiced almonds, apple peel, ripe yellow stone fruits, and a touch of baked brioche.

The History of the Pintail Brand

PINTAIL was first bottled in 1931 as Matthew Gloag & Son’s house brand of Dry Sherry and soon won international awards for its superior quality.

Featured in Tatler magazine in 1935 –“You cannot be wrong in offering a glass of ‘Pintail’ to your guest for the little “11 o’clock” and before or after meals”. It was regularly advertised in Matthew Gloag & Son’s Christmas brochure alongside the increasingly popular ‘Famous Grouse’ brand of Scotch Whisky as part of their ‘Case de Luxe’ offering.

Unfortunately, the downturn in Sherry consumption in the latter half of the 20th century signalled the end for the brand … until The Whisky Cellar acquired the rights in 2021, lining it up once again with its old ‘Brig O’ Perth’ stablemate.
