2021 Rivera Scariazzo Fiano

Vineyards

Scariazzo is made from Fiano grapes, a variety native to Irpinia that has long since found a suitable terroir to express its characteristics in northern Apulia. In 2005, the de Corato family decided to plant a Fiano vineyard on the calcareous-tufa soil facing the winery to produce a complex white wine from indigenous grapes vinified according to Casa Rivera's experience and style attentive to varietal and terroir expression. The Scariazzo was first released in the 2010 vintage. The grapes come from vineyards located in the foothills of the Murgia in the province of Bari.

The grapes, harvested at the end of August, are vinified for 20% in new barriques, the remaining quantity in steel. After blending, the wine ages in cement tanks on its lees for 3 months, followed by 3-4 months in the bottle.
